In 1985, Russian boxer Ivan Drago killed former U.S. champion Apollo Creed in a tragic match that stunned the world. Against the wishes of trainer Rocky Balboa, Apollo's son Adonis Johnson accepts a challenge from Drago's son -- another dangerous fighter. Under guidance from Rocky, Adonis trains for the showdown of his life -- a date with destiny that soon becomes his obsession

Cinematography: 20/20

Creed II looks gorgeous, the soundtrack is incredibly blood pumping and gets you hyped for the fight in the film, in addition the main cinematography in the montage section was especially impressive.

Main Cast: 20/20

Micheal B Jordan and Sylvester Stallone give absolutely brilliant performances in Creed II. The Dynamic of deep rooted friendship as well as a coach and boxer relationship shine in the film as well as the father figure theme which is heavily exemplified by the performances on display.

Supporting Cast: 20/20

The supporting cast is great. Tessa Thompson consistently proves she is an incredible actress not just in this franchise but in her own right as well. Dolph Lundgren adds another layer to the Ivan Drago character in this film that makes him look like more than a generic villian and the same goes for Florian Munteanu who plays Drago's son.

Originality: 17/20

The main fault that can be easily pinpointed on Creed II's part is the same genre tropes as all the other Rocky films with the montages and inspiring sequences, in this films defense however while following the same formula it adds so much to already established formula that it is not a grave issue for me personally.

Story: 20/20

The story of Creed II, whilst containing the same formula as the other Rocky films, Creed II differs in the context of themes and presentation which is what makes Creed II one of the best Rocky films ever.

Overall: 97/100 (Platinum)

Creed II is my favorite Rocky film. it draws heavily on the franchise roots but tells its story in an interesting and very realistic way, it reflects on the themes of obsession and failure that is relevant to everyday life in extraordinary fashion. So far this is my favorite film of 2018.
